creative activities, in a peaceful relaxing atmosphere.

They are well known for the fabulous breakfast they serve to their
guests and the inviting and homey atmosphere they create. Staying
with them is almost like coming home!

Sandra and Dan have built two lovely spacious rooms upstairs
on top of their home, overlooking the beautiful jungle with a palapa
covered terrace, outside living room, with a magnificent view over
looking the jungle. The property is on 2 and half acres of land
which assures guests of a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
The house was designed by a Spanish architect who has built
beautiful hotels in the area. The house is extremely unique and the
structure flows with the underground rivers. The trees, flowers
and plants create a beautiful, serene and cool surroundings. There
are hammocks around the property to relax and read a book and enjoy.

special and different that makes you feel like you are in Mexico and the
Mayan land, come stay with us. We cater to our guests and make sure
they have a wonderful time.
We can arrange special private birding excursions, jungle walks,
cenote trips and help guide you on where to go and what to do in
the area.

Things to do and see in the area

It’s a short stroll into the Mayan colonia from the Jungle Lodge. About a 10 minute walk.

On the weekends in the town square there is always something going on, some celebration or dance.

Fresh Veggie and fruit stands are on every street. Our favorite is Juanita’s, across from the primary school. Juanita has one of the best supplies of fruits and veggies on the Mayan Riviera.  She has some great stuff.

Lots of fresh tortillas, fresh chicken stands and an excellent butcher. The women seem to flock to Pablo’s place. He has opened a new store and seems to be competing now with Juanita for fruit and veggies. What I have noticed is he has a great assortment of regional Mayan fruit,

Very different from US.

There are several small grocery stores, internet cafes and a church next to town square. Great

to sit in the square and do some people watching..

Taco stands galore and some of them are delicious

Colletvios (Taxis buses are numerous and can be ridden into town square of Puerto Morelos

for 3 pesos. Or you can catch a cab.

Great to walk around the Mayan colonia and meet the people and enjoy seeing the life style of

the local’s. They love their children and the children seem to be everywhere.

Many of the people are the original locals of Puerto Morelos but have sold their properties and

moved to the colonia. Lots of very small family owned businesses on each street, most of them connected to their homes.

Great  to walk around and practice your Spanish and meet some of the local people. Everyone is

friendly.

It’s easy to catch a collectivo to Puerto Morelos town square and beach. They are everywhere and cost 3 pesos to get over to Pto Morelos. Coming back from Pto Morelos you can take the collective to the end of the line which is Villas Morelos and walk back to Jungle Lodge, about a 10 minute walk.

Puerto Morelos is short collectivo ride, $3 pesos from the colonia, where you can enjoy the beach,

snorkeling, diving and the tourist restaurants.   There our tourist shops and boutiques, a book store, super market, liquor store and church.

Bottled water is easily available at many of the stores up and down the coast. The restaurants use bottled water as well, even for ice cubes. There is an ATM service in town as well. Getting here from airport.

Renting a car is a great way to see all the wonderful sights the Mayan Riviera has to offer. There are many great day trips to cenotes, ruins, beaches etc. If you do plan to rent a car, and if you have a credit card that provides international car insurance coverage, (most gold and platinum cards) use it for your car rental because having to take car insurance from the rental companies substantially increases the cost of the car. You can compare prices at Budget, Executive,National, Avis or Hertz to get the best rate.Just let me know if you will renting car from airport so I can give you directions to get to Maya Echo Jungle Lodge.

We can arrange airport pickup if you are not planning on renting a car at the airport. We have been using a private transport service for several years. We will need your flight info and arrival time. Look for Louis when you come out of the airport doors. He will be at the back and he will have a sign with your name. Our guests are so happy to see him and climb into his van.

Costs: 1 to 2 people $30 US, 3 people $35 US and 4 or more people $40 US
